You can create a mask from a selection. To do so, choose Image > Mask.

Image size and resolution

The size of the canvas you work on, or what you choose to add to it, is known as your image size. The more pixels you have, the bigger the image you can create. A pixel is the little dot that makes up a digital image. A pixel-dense image looks better than an image that has fewer pixels. However, a 300 dpi (dots per inch) print (see Figure 6-5) from a photo editor program will be much smaller than the pixel size (that is, much smaller than 300 pixels).

Also in this submenu is the Resolution setting. Set the resolution to 300 dpi in order to produce a high-quality print at that resolution. Set the resolution to 72 dpi or less in order to make a smaller-resolution print.

When you open a photo, it’s automatically opened at the current resolution setting.

Organizing and Printing Photos

Photoshop’s Organizer window is where you make decisions about how to organize, preview, and print your photos. You’re able to

Build a catalog of images: Organize your photos and create a spreadsheet of your favorite shots.

Create a folder to save all your work: This feature gives you the opportunity to assign a label to a folder, so that later you can easily find all the work you’ve done.

Import from other programs: You can import from a variety of sources, including online services, other programs, and even the open air.

Export to another program: This feature allows you to export the contents of your Organizer window to any other program for future editing and printing.

Organize your photos in several ways: You can create and organize photos on your hard drive; in a folder on your memory card or camera; or even on an external hard drive.

Preview your photos: Previewing your photos can help you make quick decisions and give you a sneak preview before you print the images.

In this chapter, I introduce you to the Organizer window and explain how you can organize, preview, and print your images in different ways.

Note: The next section, “Importing photos, sounds, and videos,” tells you how to import photos, sounds, and videos

1. What is Photoshop Elements?

Adobe Photoshop Elements is a great deal more than a simple graphics editor. Elements from Adobe is an editing tool for people who want to do professional quality graphics work quickly.

Professional image editing software like Photoshop Express and Apple Aperture have a price tag to match. Adobe Photoshop Elements is a bit more affordable. Depending on the features you need, you can expect to pay between $10 and $40. Photoshop Elements is suitable for people who want to do creative things in a variety of genres, including:

Creative posters, banners and graphics for websites

Logos, book covers and calendars

Photoshop elements helps you create logos, banners and other graphics. You can also create interesting layouts with it. It is designed to help you create images without having to learn complex techniques.

Photoshop elements is ideal if you already know how to create images and graphics with other software. If you want to learn more about using Photoshop, then you need a different editing tool.

2. What’s different about Elements from Photoshop?

The features available in Elements from Adobe are a lot less than those available in the full version of Photoshop. Elements only has the basics, such as effects, filters, font control, basic brushes, shapes and layers.

Elements also lacks the advanced controls you’ll find in the

[A case of hepatocellular carcinoma with a large number of micronodules or small tumors].
A case of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with a large number of small tumors (micro-HCC) on alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is reported. A 67-year-old man was admitted to Sapporo Medical University Hospital in August 1989 for the check-up of a liver mass found on radiologic examination. The serum level of AFP was elevated, and sonography revealed a large (26 X 25 X 16 mm) ill-demarcated, low-echoic mass in S7, IV-V, and VI. At laparotomy a solitary large tumor (23 X 16 X 15 mm) in S7 was found, with satellite tumors of 2-6 mm in diameter. Histologically, the central area of the tumor was composed of fibrous septa, small nodules, and small tumor foci. Liver cirrhosis due to chronic hepatitis type C, showing dilatation of the central vein, Mallory bodies, and bridges of hepatocytes were also observed. These findings suggested the diagnosis of hepatitis C-related HCC. AFP titers in the peripheral and portal blood decreased after the resection. Since the preoperative serum levels of AFP and cell adhesion protein indicated metastatic tumors, we performed tumor removal. The following methods use directive(“bootstrap”) to add the style to the
generated HTML.

With the given directives we can add the CSS from the file file.less. This
file is usually already added to our project so our CSS can be very lightweight.

For example:
@import “~bootstrap/bootstrap.less”;
This will import bootstrap.less to our project and generate a style with
names starting with bootstrap- in the link tag of the HTML generated.

You can define your own less variables in the less files and the variables
will be available to the directives. These variables can be defined at
the beginning of your less file or you can use the variables from the boostrap
@import “bootstrap.less”;
This would import all variables and mixins from boostrap.less

The bootstrap.less file contains bootstrap variables like offsets, font
sizes and colors.
This problem does not occur if the list is just one array.
